"Munna Bhai MBBS" is a popular Bollywood film series directed by Rajkumar Hirani. It revolves around the character of Munna Bhai, played by Sanjay Dutt, who is a lovable goon with a heart of gold. The series consists of two movies: "Munna Bhai MBBS" released in 2003 and its sequel "Lage Raho Munna Bhai" released in 2006.
In "Munna Bhai MBBS," Munna Bhai is a local gangster who is known for his tough exterior but possesses a compassionate nature. His parents believe he is a doctor in Mumbai, but in reality, he is a miscreant involved in illegal activities. When his parents decide to visit him, Munna Bhai and his sidekick Circuit (played by Arshad Warsi) must find a way to deceive them.
To maintain the facade, Munna Bhai enrolls in a medical college as a first-year student. Initially, he struggles to cope with the academic demands but eventually wins the hearts of his fellow students through his unique approach to problems and his empathy towards patients. He uses his street-smart techniques to bring laughter and joy to the lives of patients, even though he lacks formal medical knowledge.
The college dean, Dr. Asthana (played by Boman Irani), suspects Munna Bhai's deceit and continuously tries to expose him. Meanwhile, Munna Bhai falls in love with Dr. Suman (played by Gracy Singh), a compassionate medical student. As the story progresses, Munna Bhai's sincerity and his ability to touch the lives of patients through his unconventional methods start to change the perception of both the medical profession and the people around him.
In the end, Munna Bhai's true identity is revealed, and he faces the consequences of his actions. However, his genuine intentions and the positive impact he had on the medical college and its patients lead to a heartwarming climax.
The sequel, "Lage Raho Munna Bhai," takes a different turn by incorporating the concept of Gandhism. Munna Bhai, haunted by the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi (played by Dilip Prabhavalkar), starts following Gandhian principles and aims to bring about positive social change. He becomes a champion of non-violence and truth, using these principles to challenge corrupt politicians and businessmen. The film explores the power of Gandhian philosophy in modern society and highlights the importance of compassion and humanity.
Both movies of the "Munna Bhai MBBS" series combine comedy, drama, and social messages, making them highly entertaining and thought-provoking. The characters of Munna Bhai and Circuit have become iconic in Indian cinema, and the films have garnered immense popularity for their unique storytelling and memorable performances.
