"Baahubali" is an epic Indian film franchise directed by S.S. Rajamouli. It consists of two films: "Baahubali: The Beginning" (2015) and "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" (2017). The story revolves around the fictional kingdom of Mahishmati and follows the journey of its protagonist, Shivudu (played by Prabhas), also known as Mahendra Baahubali.
In "Baahubali: The Beginning," the story begins with the discovery of a baby boy by a tribal woman near a waterfall. She names him Shivudu and raises him as her own. Years later, Shivudu becomes an adventurous young man who embarks on a journey to climb the waterfall and explore the world beyond. In his travels, he encounters and falls in love with Avantika (played by Tamannaah), a rebel warrior who is part of a group fighting against the tyrant ruler of Mahishmati, Bhallaladeva (played by Rana Daggubati).
Through a series of events, Shivudu learns about his true identity. He is revealed to be the son of Amarendra Baahubali (also played by Prabhas), the rightful heir to the throne of Mahishmati. Amarendra Baahubali was betrayed and killed by his own cousin, Bhallaladeva, who seized power and became the ruler. With this knowledge, Shivudu sets out to avenge his father's death and reclaim his kingdom.
The story continues in "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion," where the narrative alternates between the past and the present. It delves into the events leading up to Amarendra Baahubali's death and explores the power struggles, treachery, and complex relationships within the kingdom of Mahishmati.
Shivudu, now known as Mahendra Baahubali, gathers allies and leads a rebellion against Bhallaladeva's oppressive regime. The film showcases grand battles, stunning visual effects, and emotional moments as Mahendra Baahubali fights to restore justice and bring honor to his father's name.
The "Baahubali" franchise became a massive success in India and gained international acclaim for its breathtaking visuals, captivating storyline, and larger-than-life characters. It was praised for its grand scale and the way it blended elements of action, drama, romance, and fantasy.
